Press Release

Francesco Rocca, President of Regione Lazio; Antonella Polimeni, Rector of the La Sapienza; Fabrizio d’Alba, General Director of the Hospital; and Barbara Marinali, President of Acea, attended the inauguration

A new oncological Day Hospital has been inaugurated at Policlinico Umberto I. Acea supported the University Hospital in building the new Day Hospital – Oncology Outpatient Clinics and the Psychiatric Diagnosis and Care Service (SPDC). The inauguration took place this morning in the presence of Barbara Marinali, President of Acea; Antonella Polimeni, Rector of La Sapienza University of Rome; Fabrizio d’Alba, General Director of the polyclinic; and Francesco Rocca, President of Regione Lazio.

The renovation, which involved part of the first floor of the Dermatology Clinic designated for the Oncological Centre, enabled the creation - in this first phase - of spaces suitable for housing the Day Hospital, which will accommodate 34 chairs for oncological treatments and two rooms of four beds. The same floor also includes areas for oncological outpatient clinics and waiting rooms.

“Health is a fundamental right, and this initiative is a perfect example of how the collaboration between the public and private sectors can lead to extraordinary results that improve people’s quality of life. Policlinico Umberto I is a key institution in the Italian healthcare system. Supporting the renovation of this oncology centre means making a concrete contribution to the care, dignity, and hope of patients and their families. As President of Acea, I am proud of this. Every day we work to ensure essential services such as water and energy, but we are aware that our role goes further - and this project demonstrates Acea’s commitment to promoting initiatives that contribute to the wellbeing of the community”, stated Barbara Marinali, President of Acea.
