The works carried out by Acea Ato 2 are ongoing and are essential to strengthen and ensure the availability of water to meet the capital’s future needs.
The section of Via Trionfale closed last June to allow the works for the “Ottavia-Trionfale Adductor” project reopens today. The construction works on the site were completed in record time, finishing one month ahead of schedule and before the start of the school year in Rome. The works were carried out by Acea Ato 2 and Acea Infrastructure.
Following the reopening of the section of Via Trionfale between via Giuseppe Taverna and Viale dei Monfortani, works to strengthen the water infrastructure are ongoing: Via dell’Acquedotto Paolo remains closed from the intersection with Via Trionfale up to number 14, and Viale dei Monfortani from the intersection with Via Trionfale up to number 11. Pedestrian access will always be guaranteed to allow entry to homes and businesses. To limit the impact on traffic and reduce inconvenience for citizens and business owners, a parking area with 126 spaces will remain available free of charge on Via De Gubernatis.
“We completed this phase of the work one month ahead of schedule. The Acea TO 2 works will improve the transport of water resources from the main aqueducts to the network pipelines, which are directed towards the city center and all the districts on the west side of Rome up to the coastline, serving a catchment area of approximately one million people”, states Marco Salis, President of ACEA ATO 2.
“Today’s reopening, which takes place one month ahead of schedule, is the result of a shared strategy to minimise the time needed for the works. Today, we are reopening a road that is essential for traffic in the area. I would like to thank Acea for the work carried out on this important construction site. We hope that the works still underway in this area can be completed as soon as possible to ensure a return to normal traffic management. Collaboration and sharing are the right approach to start and complete works while causing as little inconvenience as possible to citizens”, states Ornella Segnalini, Councillor for Public Works and Infrastructure of Roma Capitale.
The “Ottavia-Trionfale Adductor” is a project with a total value of over €94 million, partially funded by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) through the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport and involves the construction of a new connection line between the Ottavia Water Center and the new Water Center called “Pineta Sacchetti”, with a total length of 5.2 km.
The project is strategic and necessary to strengthen and ensure the availability of water to meet the Capital’s future needs. Complex works are planned, involving the laying of pipes with diameters of up to 2.5 meters. The overall duration of the project is estimated at 24 months, with completion scheduled for March 2026.
Citizens will be constantly updated on the schedule and progress of the works. To learn more, visit the dedicated page on the website.
