The project aims to educate new generations on the conscious use and protection of water
The award ceremony for the schools that won last year's edition of the contest will take place on October 28, in the presence of the Minister of Education Valditara, President Marinali, and CEO Palermo
The Acea Scuola Water Education project returns. It is aimed at students in primary and lower secondary schools. Promoted in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Merit, the 2025-2026 edition aims to educate new generations on the conscious use and protection of water.
After its success in six Italian regions, with over 11,000 participants, the second edition of Acea Scuola Water Education will be extended nationwide this year, bringing to schools across Italy an innovative water education programme. The project is in line with the company’s commitment set out in the three-year Memorandum of Understanding between Giuseppe Valditara, Minister of Education and Merit, and Fabrizio Palermo, Chief Executive Officer of Acea, to promote educational and training activities on the conscious use of water in schools. The memorandum, which represents a first at both national and European level, aims to explore all the topics related to the water cycle and to spread a culture of sustainable water use among young people. On October 28, the schools that won last year’s edition of the contest “Alla ricerca della goccia perduta: riuso e risparmio dell’acqua” (“Looking for the lost drop: water reuse and saving”) will be awarded. The ceremony will be attended by Giuseppe Valditara, Minister of Education; Barbara Marinali, President of Acea; and Fabrizio Palermo, Chief Executive Officer of Acea.
The Acea Scuola Water Education project has been enriched with new multimedia content and interactive quizzes to engage students in a dynamic and enjoyable way. Among the activities planned for the 2025-2026 edition are: digital training on the world of water through a dedicated platform, with content tailored to the different age groups of participating students; guided tours of the Group’s plants; a prize contest with the opportunity to take part by producing a short film about water; and, among the prizes, free participation in the various events of the Acea Acqua Edu Camp, the sustainable tour that combines water education and sailing, as well as vouchers for the purchase of educational materials for schools.
Acea aims to promote a new form of water conservation education and to reaffirm its constant commitment to water and environmental protection in response to the scenarios posed by climate change and the risk of drought. This programme will also offer an opportunity to present to students the work and the new technologies the Group uses to ensure the protection and quality of such a precious resource as water, as well as to manage its water service, which reaches more than 10 million people every day.
