Water, Acea Group ranked best in Italy for service continuity, loss reduction, and purified water quality

Arera grants Acea €36 million for the technical quality of its service


The companies of the Acea Group operating in the water sector ranked at the top in Italy for service continuity, loss reduction, and the quality of purified water. This recognition was established by ARERA, the Regulatory Authority for Energy, Networks and Environment, which recently approved the final results of the incentive mechanism for Technical Quality of the integrated water service for the two-year period 2022-2023. The Acea Group’s companies were granted over €36 million out of a total of €155 million awarded by Arera.


All 13 water companies included within the Acea Acqua subholding received recognition and rewards for various achievements. In particular, the following companies distinguished themselves: Acea Ato 2, which manages the integrated water service in Rome and the metropolitan area, was recognised as the top operator in terms of service continuity and recorded the lowest number of water interruptions, and received a total award of €12.3 million. Gori, which manages the integrated water service in the Sarnese-Vesuviano District Area in Campania, and Nuove Acque, which operates in the province of Arezzo and part of the province of Siena, ranked first nationwide for loss reduction, and were granted €7.4 million (Gori) and €4.1 million (Nuove Acque), respectively.


Finally, Geal, the water operator active in Lucca, Tuscany, distinguished itself by achieving first place for the quality of purified water and received an award of €1.5 million.
