Description and goals of the project

The Ottavia Water Center is one of the main nodes of the capital’s water distribution system. It receives flows from the lower section of the Peschiera Destro pipeline, the Monte Carnale Ottavia adduction pipeline, which allows water transfer from the Peschiera Sinistro system to the Peschiera Destro system.

From the Ottavia Water Centre, water is conveyed via adduction pipelines to the Trionfale node and the Monte Mario reservoir, which serves as the main balancing tank for the central areas of the city. From there, the network continues towards the Aurelio node, supplying the western districts of Rome.

The project involves the construction of a new pipeline approximately 5.2 kilometres in lenght, connecting the Ottavia Water Centre to the new Pineta Sacchetti Water Centre. The intervention will help improve the service provided to the approximately 1 million residents served by Acea Ato 2.  The goal is to improve interconnections between aqueduct systems, ensure service continuity even during extraordinary maintenance works, increase flow capacity to the reservoirs, and reduce seismic risk. The project also includes the replacement of obsolete pipes, in order to enhance the efficiency and reliability of the water distribution network.

These interventions are essential to ensuring a safer and more sustainable water supply service for the city of Rome.
