The intervention carried out by Acea Ato 2 is strategic and necessary to enhance and secure the capital’s future water requirements. Via dell’Acquedotto Paolo will be closed starting Tuesday
The first phase of the works planned for the “Ottavia-Trionfale Adductor” project will begin on 22 April. The project, partially funded by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP), involves the construction of a new adductor pipeline covering a total length of approximately 5.2 km, connecting the Ottavia Water Centre to the new water centre named “Pineta Sacchetti.”
Acea Ato 2 will carry out the intervention, which will enhance water transportation from the main aqueducts to the distribution network, reaching the city centre and all the neighbourhoods in western Rome up to the coastline. The work, scheduled for competition by 2026, is strategic and necessary to meet the capital’s future water requirements.
Work will begin on the project section “T4” (from the “Trionfale” Well 3 to the Pineta Sacchetti Water Centre) starting on 22 April. The first phase includes closing Via dell’Acquedotto Paolo from the intersection with Via Trionfale up to street number 14. This will allow the pipeline to be laid up at the entrance of the new Pineta Sacchetti Water Centre.
During the entire closure period, pedestrian access will be guaranteed to ensure access to homes and businesses along the street. As part of the new traffic plan, Via dell’Acquedotto Paolo will become a two-way street for residents only, and a portion of the traffic island on via dell’Acquedotto del Peschiera will be removed.
As previously mentioned, this is the first phase of a larger project that will continue over several weeks. Citizens will be regularly updated on the timing and progress of the work.
