Acea for World Energy Saving Day
Now in its 55th edition, the Giffoni Film Festival has always been a point of reference for supporting the talent of new generations, making them the true protagonists of events, workshops and training programmes.
Once again this year, Acea renews its commitment alongside the festival by promoting a programme of initiatives designed to raise awareness among young people about the sustainable use of water, encouraging saving, reusing and making more conscious choices.
Acea will take part in Giffoni IMPACT!, a space dedicated to 200 young people aged between 18 and 30, who will have the opportunity to engage in dialogue with representatives from the Italian political, social, economic and cultural worlds about transformation and the future.
On 26 July, Emiliano Maria Cappuccitti, Deputy People & Security Officer, and Andre Belli, Head of Training Academy, will guide the young participants on a journey to discover “New Professions” related to the water sector through the talk “Water: professions and new opportunities for the future.” This will be an opportunity to learn more about the new professional profiles and skills that are transforming the water industry.
A special prize has been established by Acea to award the film that, among those participating in the contest, best interprets the theme of water, promoting a culture of respect and the enhancement of this resource.
On the occasion of Giffoni Food, Acea will take part with a special project titled “L’acqua che non vedi” (The water you don’t see), created to explain in a simple and direct way how water is a fundamental resource, even when it comes to food. Every food we consume, in fact, has an invisible water cost. The project comes to life through a short video that alternates interviews with chefs, food ambassadors and creators present at the festival with data and curiosities about the water hidden in food. The goal is to raise awareness, especially among young people, about the connection between food waste and the protection of water resources, reminding everyone that every gesture counts.
During the Giffoni Film Festival 2025, the new edition of the “Acea Scuola – Educazione Idrica” project for the 2025–2026 school year will be presented. Created in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Merit, it is dedicated to students of primary and secondary schools throughout Italy. The project aims to educate new generations about the integrated water cycle and promote a more conscious and responsible use of water.
The Giffoni Film Festival was born from a Claudio Gubitosi's idea: from a young age, he had always been fond of cinema and at the age of eighteen, in 1971, he decided to set up a real film festival for children. Various aspects made it innovative: the selection of films for children and young people, a little-known genre at the time, but one that immediately gained popularity; a jury that was exclusively made up of young people; and the setting, i.e. Claudio Gubitosi’s home town, Giffoni Valle Piana, in the province of Salerno.
Over the years, many Italian and international authors have taken part to the Festival: from François Truffaut, Robert De Niro, Michelangelo Antonioni, to Alberto Sordi and Sergio Leone, who consecrated the event as an important appointment for film culture and beyond.
The Giffoni Film Festival has been transformed over the years to become Giffoni Experience, establishing itself not only as a cultural event but as an efficient cultural enterprise that employs full time tens of young people throughout the year.
The festival is constantly evolving, the format has been taken abroad, until after 50 years it has reached a new era, the Giffoni Opportunity, a team of over 300 young people is ready to manage the present and the future.
