Press Release

Barbara Marinali, President of Acea, and Fabrizio Palermo, CEO, inaugurated the new exhibition space at the headquarters in Piazzale Ostiense. Roberto Gualtieri, Mayor of Rome, was also present.

Acea Heritage is launched: an exhibition designed to tell the story and culture of Acea - is a journey through works of art, documents, and objects that reveal how the first water operator in Italy, over its 116 years of activity, has contributed to the country’s economic, social, and civil development. Barbara Marinali, President of Acea, and Fabrizio Palermo, CEO, inaugurated the exhibition in the presence of Roberto Gualtieri, Mayor of Rome.

The new exhibition space, set up in the former Salone del Pubblico of the historic headquarters in Piazziale Ostiense, is part of the Museimpresa network, the Italian Association of Corporate Archives and Museums that brings together the histories of Italian companies of excellence. “Arte, design e architettura a Palazzo” (Art, design, and architecture at Acea) is a journey through the works of Gino Marotta, some of which have never been shown before, and Pietro De Laurentiis, two artists who worked on Acea’s monumental sculptures: covering an area of 1,300 square meters, 70 works, including drawings, sketches, sculptures, and manuscripts are on display. Acea Heritage hosts a physical archive of 31 thousand photographs from the company's historical photographic fund and a library of over 600 volumes and publications.

Not only an exhibition, then, but also a space with a cultural vocation where visitors can consult the historical archives, participate in conferences and training activities, or read books. In addition, the exhibition will also explore the architecture of the building and the monumental fountain, designed by architects Quaroni, Macrì, and Romitelli, archive documents, the photographic fund, and industrial instruments such as meters, ammeters, voltmeters, and lamps from various periods. Acea Heritage offers a unique opportunity to reflect on modernity and modular architecture in Rome. The exhibition is curated by Acea in collaboration with the Gino Marotta and Pietro De Laurentiis archives and offers a new cultural space to the city. In September, the space, which is already open to employees, will also be open to the public by appointment, so that everyone can discover the history and the technological and social progress of the capital.

“Acea Heritage represents the history and culture of Acea and Italy, told through objects, documents, and works of art. Our cultural space joins a network of institutions, Musei d’Impresa, that preserve and enhance the industrial and cultural heritage of Italian companies. Here, it will be possible to discover how Acea has contributed to the economic, social, and civil growth of our country: the historical heritage on display is unique and represents our creativity and commitment to quality. We are proud to share our spaces with the community and tell our story”, stated Fabrizio Palermo, CEO of Acea.

“With today’s inauguration of the exhibition, the company opens the doors of a space that has been returned to the public, celebrating tradition, culture and values” stated Barbara Marinali, President of Acea. “This initiative is a tribute to the passion and dedication that helped build the company, serving as a springboard for the future through the awareness of our roots and the strengthening of the company’s identity. I hope that Acea Heritage can become a point of reference for the community and a symbol of the values that guide us: innovation, sustainability, and respect for people”.
