The Group is present with 95 water trucks at the main event locations, confirming its support for the scheduled activities. A water infrastructure of approximately 16 km has been built in Tor Vergata to supply young people with water. In total, 4.5 million litres of water will be distributed.
On the occasion of the Jubilee of Youth, which is taking place in the Capital until 3 August, Italy’s leading water operator and one of the foremost in Europe is supporting the thousands of young people who have arrived, and will continue to arrive, in Rome by ensuring the water supply through a purpose-built pipeline in Tor Vergata and through water trucks serving the scheduled events. In addition, throughout the week, the company will raise awareness among thousands of young people, helping them recognize their role as “water guardians” and showing them in concrete terms how each of them represents the decisive “drop” for a sustainable future. A message fully consistent with the protection and safeguarding of natural resources.
Over the past months, in the Tor Vergata area, Acea, with the dual goal of ensuring water availability for young people while avoiding any impact on service provision for residents, has created an ad hoc water distribution system approximately 16 km in length. During the event, this infrastructure will distribute about 3.5 million litres of water. In addition, Acea will provide around one million litres of water through 95 water trucks strategically located at the sites of the main events in the coming days, particularly at the Vela di Calatrava and the Rome Fair. During the Jubilee of Youth, a total of 4.5 million litres of water will be distributed.
At the water distribution points, visitors will find signs with a QR code linking to the water education program currently underway in Italian schools, designed for the large audience of young people attending the Jubilee. The project stems from the memorandum of understanding signed between Acea and the Ministry of Education and Merit, with the shared goal of promoting a culture of water conservation and environmental protection in schools. Through another QR code, it will also be possible to download the Acquea APP, developed by the Acea Group to help people locate, among 3,500 geolocated water points in Rome, the nearest fountain, nasone, or Acea water house for drinking.
Fabrizio Palermo, CEO of Acea, stated: “Ensuring a safe and sustainable water supply during the Jubilee of Youth, through dedicated infrastructure and the distribution of 4.5 million litres of water, is an important new opportunity to raise awareness among young people from all over the world about water - a fundamental and strategic resource for our future.”
Barbara Marinali, President of Acea, stated: “With this initiative, Acea confirms its support for the organization of the Jubilee and, more broadly, for the Capital, on the occasion of one of the most important events of the Jubilee Year, which will attract approximately one million young people to the city. We are contributing through initiatives that combine efficiency and environmental responsibility, two core values of our daily activities in the areas where we operate.
