Promoting sustainability across the sectors in which Acea and the Group’s companies operate, through energy efficiency measures and the integration of renewable sources. This is the objective of the institutional collaboration agreement signed today between Acea S.p.A. – a leading company in integrated water service, electricity distribution, public and artistic lighting, waste treatment and recovery, energy and gas sales, and energy production, primarily from renewable sources – and Gestore dei Servizi Energetici (en. Manager of Energy Services) – GSE S.p.A. – a company under the Ministry of Economy that promotes sustainable development in Italy.

Additionally, the agreement aims to facilitate new investments to promote sustainability and technological innovation in the development of infrastructures managed by Acea and the Group’s companies, enhance existing productive assets through energy and water efficiency, and the integration of renewable sources, thus contributing to the reduction of consumption by leveraging regulated instruments and accessing incentive mechanisms managed by GSE.

The protocol, which will come into effect upon signing, will remain valid for three years.

“The signing of this agreement with Acea will support the development of a circular model where prosumers not only consume energy but also produce, store, and exchange it with the grid or share it with other users” – stated Paolo Arrigoni, President of GSE. He continued – “The active role of informed consumers is achieved through energy efficiency and the gradual adoption of renewable energy sources, actions that are increasingly vital for building a sustainable economy. Moreover, with the dedicated support and the training provided by GSE, investments in innovative projects can be accelerated, ensuring that the value of these initiatives remains constant over time”.
